Red Velvet’s Joy responded to unsolicited weight remarks being hurled by family members during holiday gatherings in Korea.

Media outlet Allkpop reported on Monday, February 12, that Joy expressed her concerns regarding backhanded compliments of relatives in an episode of the Korean show “Animal Farm.”

"Relatives often turn innocent updates into lectures and reproaches," she said but zeroed in on the remarks about body weight.

“People often tell me that even though I am pretty now, I'd be prettier if I lost weight," Joy said.

"Please, I can take care of my own weight,” she added, noting how these comments were often ending with people saying that it would be for her good.
