Just days before their much-awaited comeback and concert, three members of the K-pop girl group Red Velvet has tested positive for COVID-19.
On Monday, their agency SM Entertainment confirmed that Irene, Joy, and Yeri contracted the viral illness despite completing the second dose of vaccines against COVID-19.
"They are currently carrying out at-home treatment, and they are not exhibiting any particular symptoms," the agency stated.
"Seulgi and Wendy received negative results even with their additional tests," it added.
With the latest development, SM Entertainment announced the postponement of Red Velvet's special live '2022 The ReVe Festival : Prologue' scheduled on March 19 and 20.
"As a result, Red Velvet’s special live event “2022 The ReVe Festival : Prologue” scheduled for March 19 and 20 has inevitably been postponed tentatively, and all tickets will be fully refunded. The future status of the event will be decided after reviewing the COVID-19 situation and the artists’ health," it stated.
Meanwhile, the release of their mini-album "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm" on March 21 will continue as planned.
This marks their first comeback since releasing “Queendom” in August of last year.
Debuted in 2014, Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri have since released hit songs such as Dumb Dumb, Red Flavor, Russian Roulette, Bad Boy, and Psycho.
The group last visited Manila in June 2019 for the K-pop World Music Festival.
