House Deputy Speaker and Batangas Rep. Ralph Recto will be the country's new Finance chief, Malacañang confirmed on Thursday.
In a message to reporters, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil said Recto is set to take his oath before President Ferrdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday.
Business tycoon Frederick Go will also be sworn in as Marcos’ economic czar.
"Rep. Ralph Recto and Frederick Go are scheduled to take their oath tomorrow before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as Secretary of Finance and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, respectively," Garafil said.
Recto will be replacing Benjamin Diokno as the country's finance chief.
Prior to the confirmation, his wife, former Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto earlier disclosed the former senator's new role in a radio interview.
Aside form being a former lawmaker, Recto also served briefly as chief of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) during the Arroyo term.
