Former Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Ralph Recto was formally sworn in as the new Executive Secretary (ES).
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. led the swearing-in ceremony at Malacañang on Wednesday, November 19.
Recto's appointment as Executive Secretary on an ad interim basis follows the resignation of former ES Lucas Bersamin, who was tagged in allegations connected to anomalous flood control projects.
The Palace confirmed on Monday, November 17, that Bersamin has tendered his resignation out of delicadeza.
Moreover, Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go will be heading the DOF.
Recto served in the Senate from 2001 to 2022. Before that, he was a member of the House of Representatives from 1992 to 2001, and he returned in 2022 to 2024, where he served as House Deputy Speaker.
Recto subsequently resigned as representative following his appointment as Finance Secretary by Marcos.
The new Executive Secretary acquired his Bachelor of Science in Commerce at De La Salle University in 1989.
