The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has taken into custody the sister of a former policeman implicated in the brutal killing of Police Staff Sergeant Major (PSMS) Diane Marie Mollenido and her young son.

According to the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU), Maribel Suarez Panganiban voluntarily surrendered to authorities at Camp Karingal around 10 a.m. She is the sister of ex-policeman Christian Suarez Panganiban, earlier identified as one of the alleged masterminds in the crime.

Investigators said Maribel was linked to the case through the judicial affidavit of another suspect, Gil Valdemoro Dy Jr., who claimed she helped clean up evidence inside the residence of the alleged masterminds. Dy also alleged that Maribel participated in the killing of the eight-year-old victim.

Authorities now have five individuals under custody in connection with the case: spouses Christian and Pia Katrina Panganiban, Maribel Panganiban, Gil Valdemoro Dy Jr., and PSMS John Mollenido, the husband of the slain policewoman.

During inquest proceedings at the Quezon City Hall of Justice, PSMS John Mollenido was included among the suspects after being implicated by Pia Katrina, who alleged that he ordered the killing of his wife and child. The QCPD and the Special Investigation Task Group are currently awaiting the inquest prosecutor’s recommendation on whether he will remain among the respondents in the case.
