The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) continues to conduct backtracking operations through its Special Investigation Team to track down five more individuals allegedly involved in the murder of Technical Director of the House Committee on Ways and Means Mauricio “Morrie” Pulhin, 63 years old.
In a report by RH 5 Val Gonzales, among those being hunted are the alleged gunman and his accomplice, a couple believed to be the masterminds behind the killing, and their driver, who reportedly facilitated the search for a hitman to kill Pulhin.
According to QCPD spokesperson Police Captain Febie Madrid, the identities of the alleged masterminds and other suspects were revealed in the extrajudicial confession signed by one of the arrested suspects, known as alias “Balong.”
Balong is one of the first two suspects arrested by QCPD and is among the seven individuals now facing murder charges filed before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
The two apprehended suspects reportedly served as the middleman and lookout during the shooting.
Based on Balong’s sworn statement, it was the driver of the alleged mastermind couple who was instructed to find someone to execute the murder.
QCPD's investigation revealed that the couple allegedly ordered the killing of Pulhin before the latter could file an estafa case against them.
Madrid added that the motive behind the murder appears to be connected to a missing P2.6 million from a diagnostic clinic owned by Pulhin, where the couple previously worked.
The crime occurred on June 15, when Pulhin was shot in the head during a birthday party for his daughter in Quezon City.
Two of the six suspects are now in the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP), while the manhunt continues for the remaining five.
