Young athletes and football enthusiasts in Quezon City now have access to a world-class sports facility following the inauguration of a new FIFA-grade football field at the Amoranto Sports Complex on Saturday.
Mayor Joy Belmonte led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting the city government’s commitment to providing high-quality and globally compliant sports infrastructure for QCitizens, particularly the youth.
The newly opened field features high-quality turf grass with FIFA-compliant markings, along with a modern trench drain and drainage system designed to ensure durability and playability even during inclement weather.
City officials present during the inauguration included Chief of Staff Rowena Macatao, Assistant City Administrator Atty. Rene Grapilon, City Engineer Atty. Dale Perral, PDAD head and City Architect Red Avelino and Quezon City Police District Director PBGEN Randy Silvio.
According to the local government, the project forms part of Quezon City’s broader initiative to upgrade public sports facilities and promote active lifestyles, grassroots sports development, and community engagement through athletics.
The Amoranto Sports Complex, long regarded as a key recreational hub in the city, is expected to attract more local leagues, school tournaments, and community sports programs with the addition of the new field.
To further encourage participation, free football clinics are being held every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., providing aspiring players with access to basic training and skills development under guided supervision.
City officials expressed hope that the facility will inspire more young QC residents to take up football and pursue opportunities in competitive sports while fostering discipline, teamwork, and healthy living.
