The Quezon City Police filed a statutory rape case against an undisclosed suspect for sexually abusing his 13-year-old niece in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City, who was from Iligan City.
According to the initial report, the suspect started sexually abusing his niece, a Grade 8 student, since she arrived on September 16.
In an interview with DZRH&rsquo;s Dos Por Dos, PCpt Anthony Dacquel said that the suspect was a family driver and a security guard who promised the victim that he would help her to continue her studies.
"Noong September 10 lang siya dumating dahil napangakuang dito na lang mag-aral,&rdquo; said Dacquel.
According to him, they thought that the suspect was the owner of the house but confirmed that he wasn&rsquo;t when they asked the victim.
&ldquo;Noong una, ang pagkakaalam namin, siya [suspek] ang amo doon. Noong ininterbyu namin ang bata, puro mga kasambahay lang ang nandoon. Ang pagkakaalam ng bata, pulis ito,&rdquo; Dacquel added.
The Quezon City police added that the victim had been sexually abused on a daily basis since she arrived in Manila.
&ldquo;Araw-araw 'yan kaya naawa kami sa bata. Isang linggo pa lang pagkadating ng biktima sa lugar na 'yan, nasimulan na siyang halayin, araw-araw 'yon. Sabi ng bata, nakakapagpahinga lang siya tuwing may dalaw,&rdquo; according to Dacquel when he asked the victim.
Moreover, the victim could not tell the others due to being afraid that the suspect might hurt him, so she opened up her situation to her classmates.
Her classmates then reported the incident to their class adviser and later reported it to the barangay.
It was November 7 when the suspect last raped the victim and was arrested.
Meanwhile, the victim is currently in the custody of the social worker's office and is now undergoing counseling.
