Quezon City and Pasig City have announced that they will be providing financial aid to the provinces that were hit hard by Typhoon Odette last week.
Quezon City in a media release said that it will extend an additional P20 million financial aid to Bohol and select municipalities in Negros Oriental and Cebu.
According to the statement, P10 million will be donated to the province of Bohol, while P10 million each will be equally distributed to the municipalities of Bais, Manjuyod, Bindoy, Ayungon, Tayasan, Jimalalud, La Libertad, and Vallehermoso in Negros Oriental, as well as the municipalities of Ronda and Dumanjug in Cebu.
"We hope that this donation will bring you some relief from the effects of the typhoon," Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.
The donation adds to the previous P10 million aid provided by Quezon City to the municipalities of Anahawan, Hinundayan, Libagon, Padre Burgos, Pintuyan, San Francisco, San Juan, San Ricardo, Tomas Oppus, and Limasawa in Southern Leyte.
Meanwhile, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said on Christmas Day that the local government unit will be extending P5 million to Typhoon Odette victims.
The recipients will receive P1 million each, which will include Dinagat Islands, Southern Leyte, Negros Oriental, Surigao del Norte, and Bohol.
"We have staff there now," said Sotto on Twitter.
"In the spirit of Christmas, let's find ways to help those in need."
