

Heart disease topped the list of causes of death in the country in 2022, the latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has revealed.
Based on the data released on Wednesday, 103,628, or 18.4 percent of Filipinos died due to ischaemic heart disease from January to November 2022.
This was followed by Cerebrovascular disease with 57,411 deaths or 10.2 percent and Neoplasms with 57,354 or 10.2 percent.
Other diseases that cause an individual's death are:

Hypertensive diseases - 32,339 or 5.7 percent

The COVID-19 disease ranked 11th as the leading cause of death in the country with 16,080 cases.
"This shows a decline of -85.6 percent from the 111,599 deaths due to COVID-19 that were registered in the same period in 2021," it noted.
According to PSA, the National Capital Region (NCR) had the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19 with 3,916, followed by Calabarzon with 2,667, Central Luzon with 2,221, and Western Visayas with 1,112.
