Militants and typhoon, and flood victims raged to the office of St. Gerrard Construction Corporation in Bambang, Pasig City, owned by contractor Sara Discaya Thursday morning, September 4.
Hurling mud at the company’s gate and wall, spray-painted the word “Magnanakaw” (“Thief”), in protest of alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
The demonstrators demanded the government hold the Discayas accountable, along with allegedly corrupt Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials and politicians linked to questionable flood control projects.
The groups branded the Discayas as the “King and Queen of Flood Control,” claiming that despite trillions of pesos spent on infrastructure, many poor communities across the provinces continue to suffer from severe flooding.
The protest lasted several minutes, vowing to sustain their series of demonstrations to express public outrage against corruption in government projects.
