The prosecution is set to oppose the petition for bail of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo during a hearing scheduled for today at the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC), where the qualified human trafficking case filed against her will be heard.
According to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), the prosecution will formally submit evidence to challenge Guo's petition for bail.
Meanwhile, in a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, Atty. Nicole Jamilla, Guo's legal counsel, said they anticipate the opposing side to present witnesses.
Jamilla confirmed that Guo will attend today's hearing for the qualified human trafficking case lodged against her via Zoom, as she remains detained at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory.
Guo's camp previously argued that the case filed by the PAOCC and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is weak in relation to the non-bailable offense that was filed against the former mayor.
The case filed against Guo pertains to her alleged involvement in the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Bamban.
Moreover, Guo is facing a separate graft case at the Valenzuela Regional Trial Court (RTC), as well as tax evasion and money laundering cases at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Previously, Guo pleaded not guilty to the qualified human trafficking and graft charges filed against her.
