The promotion and exposure of the Department of Tourism’s "Love the Philippines" campaign will be reduced in 2024 due to the decrease in the agency’s budget.

In the plenary deliberations of the 2024 proposed national budget, House Deputy Minority Leader Mujiv Hataman criticized the proposed P800 million DOT budget in 2024, which is lower compared to this year.

Hataman questioned the reduced funding because the recently launched "Love the Philippines" campaign will suddenly reduce its promotion and exposure.

Moreover, Isabela Representative Faustino Dy, the sponsor of the DOT budget, admitted that the "Love the Philippines" campaign will have less exposure in the domestic and international markets.

Dy assured me that despite the limited budget, the promotional campaign will continue through a new video and campaign.

The proposed budget of the DOT in 2024 was P15.3 billion; however, it became only P2.99 billion due to the 20% budget cut by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

It can be recalled that the "Love the Philippines" promotional campaign became controversial when it was discovered that "stock videos" were used, and some parts of it were not shot in the Philippines but in some Asian countries.
