The retail price of chili or siling labuyo has reached ₱800 per kilogram in the local markets in Metro Manila, according to the Department of Agriculture (DA)
In its Bantay Presyo as of September 13, DA said the price of siling labuyo ranges from ₱500 to ₱800 per kilo.
The said prices were observed in the local markets of Guadalupe, Las Piñas, Malabon, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Muñoz, Pasay, Pasig, Pritil, Quinta, San Andres, Mega Q-Mart, and Commonwealth.
The recent prices of siling labuyo were higher as compared to the ₱200 to ₱450 per kilo monitored last August 14 in the same local markets.
Interviewed by RH Edniel Parrosa, a vegetable retailer at Agora Public Market in San Juan said her capital for siling labuyo rose from ₱200 to ₱500.
Due to the rising retail price of siling labuyo, some retailers at the Agora Public Market sell a sachet for ₱5 to ₱10.
