President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has signed an executive order granting a one-time grant of rice allowance to all national government employees and workers.
Under Administrative Order No. 2 dated Dec. 16 but released on Monday, it granted 25 kilograms of rice to civilian personnel in the national government agencies, including those in state universities and colleges (SUCs), government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCC), government financial institutions (GFIs), government instrumentalities with corporate powers, and government corporate entities occupying regular, contractual, or casual positions.
Also entitled to the one-time rice allowance are military personnel, uniformed police, fire and jail units, and facilities, as well as the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NRIA).
Likewise, the AO2 also granted rice allowance to all individuals and groups whose services are engaged in job orders (JO) and contracts of services (COS).
"The grant of assistance in the form of rice to workers and employees in government will help mitigate the effects of the current socio-economic challenges in their respective households," the order reads.
