

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. congratulated Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz for her recent triumph in the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogota, Colombia.
Diaz ruled the women's 55 kilograms event after registering a total lift of 207 kilograms, 114 kilograms in the snatch, and 93 kilograms in the clean and jerk.
"Muli na namang nagpamalas ng natatanging galing ang kauna-unahan nating Olympic gold medalist na si Hidilyn Diaz," President Marcos said in a Facebook post.
"Kaisa ko ang buong bansa sa pagbibigay pugay sa iyo, Hidilyn, sa patuloy mong pagsusumikap upang magsilbing inspirasyon sa maraming Pilipino, at makapag-uwi ng karangalan para sa ating bayan," the Chief Executive added.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairperson Noli Eala, meanwhile, also lauded Diaz and described her as the 'epitome of a Filipino Champion'.
"Hidilyn continues to be the benchmark by which every weightlifter and Filipino athlete must measure themselves against,' Eala stressed in a Twitter post.
Eala assured that the PSC will continue to provide assistance to Diaz in her 'continued quest to bring glory to the Philippines.
