President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has declared Dec. 26, 2022, as an additional special non-working holiday for this year.

In Proclamation No. 115 issued on Thursday, Dec. 22, Marcos said this would give "people the full opportunity to celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones.”

“A longer weekend will encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationship towards a more productive environment,” the proclamation reads.

Marcos also directed the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to release a circular to implement the proclamation to the private sector.

The proclamation was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
