President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. assured the public that state agencies and government units are ready amid the unrest of the Mayon Volcano.
In a Twitter post on Friday, Marcos said he has been working with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), local government units (LGUs), and other agencies following the alert level status raised in Mayon Volcano.
“Matapos itaas sa Alert Level 2 ang Bulkang Mayon, tayo ay patuloy na nakikipag-ugnayan sa @phivolcs_dost, @NDRRMC_OpCen, LGUs at iba pang ahensya upang siguraduhin na ang lahat ay handa sa posibleng pagbago ng sitwasyon,“ he said.
“Mag-ingat po tayo,“ he added.
The Phivolcs placed the Mayon Volcano on Alert level two on Friday, Oct. 7 due to increased unrest “driven by shallow magmatic processes.“
It warned the public about the possible “phreatic eruptions or even precede hazardous magmatic eruption.“
In its 8 am bulletin on Saturday, Phivolcs said Alert level two remained but no volcanic earthquakes were detected in its past 24 hours of monitoring.
