President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday appointed Domingo F. Panganiban, as senior undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
“Isang karangalan ang makatrabaho ang ating mga dalubhasa sa pagtugon sa mga pangangailangan ng ating bayan lalo na sa sektor ng agrikultura,” Marcos wrote in his Facebook post posted on Aug. 15.
Panganiban previously served as presidential assistant for agriculture in 1996 during the administration of late former president Fidel V. Romos.
In 2001, former president Joseph Estrada appointed him as agriculture secretary, and was tapped again to lead the department during former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s term.
He received the Dangal Batangas Award in 1979 for his “contributions to national efforts in food production”.
Panganiban will be replacing former undersecretary Leocadio Sebastian who recently resigned after the unauthorized issuance of 300 metric tons of sugar without Marcos’ approval.
