President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has appointed Ariel Nepomuceno as the new Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Administrator.
Nepomuceno’s appointment was announced by the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
He took an oath before Executive Secretary (ES) Lucas Bersamin as seen in the photos that OPS released.
Nepomuceno previously served as deputy commissioner to the enforcement group in the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
In 2017, former senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson revealed a list of BOC officials involved in the alleged bribe scheme or so-called “Tara”.
Nepomuceno was among the long list of names who are allegedly receiving bribes from unscrupulous shippers.
But despite this revelation, former president Rodrigo Roa Duterte reappointed him in 2017.
Aside from Nepomuceno, Marcos also appointed Angelito Magno and Glen Ricarte as National Bureau of Investigation assistant directors.
