President Ferdinand 'bongbong' Marcos Jr. has appointed Cheloy Garafil as the new Secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Malacañang announced Tuesday.
In photos released, Garafil was seen taking her oath of office before the Chief Executive. She was formerly an officer-in-charge with a rank of undersecretary.
In October last year, Garafil, a lawyer, resigned as the chairperson of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and accepted the offer to help in the then Office of the Press Secretary.
Garafil was a former prosecutor and former official of the House of Representatives Secretariat.
She was also a former practicing journalist and has worked for media organizations such as Associated Press (AP) and Malaya.
