President Rodrigo Duterte will lead the campaign of PDP-Laban's senatoriables, according to party president Alfonso Cusi on Wednesday.
Despite not having a president and vice president to field for the 2022 national elections, Cusi said that their party still has its senatorial roster which will be led by Duterte.
This confirms that Duterte will be pushing through with his senatorial bid after his long-time aide and Senator Christopher "Bong" Go pulled out of the presidential race on Tuesday.
"Kakampanya po ang PDP kahit wala kaming dinadalang ulo na kandidato sa pagkapangulo," Cusi told DZRH in an interview.
(The PDP will still campaign even if we do not have a presidential candidate.)
"Nandun nga po si Pangulong Duterte, na siya ang mgangunguna sa pangangampanya sa aming mga senatoriables," he also said.
(President Duterte will be there to lead the campaign of our senatoriables.)
All eyes are on PDP-Laban as it seeks to find a new presidential and vice presidential candidate to endorse after Go, the party's standard bearer, announced his withdrawal.
Cusi said the party will meet to discuss their next steps on the matter, and will endorse a candidate who will continue the programs of the current administration.
