President Rodrigo Duterte will only endorse a candidate who knows by heart PDP-Laban's 11-point Agenda for Continuity, according to senatorial candidate Rey Langit.
Langit, who is running for senator under PDP-Laban, told DZRH in an interview that the candidate who pledges to implement the 11-point agenda will get the president's support for the upcoming May national elections.
"Ang napag-uusapan namin kasi kapag may discussion, 'yung mga susunod sa 11-point agenda ng PDP-Laban, kapag merong nagtaas ng kamay at by heart memorize niya 'yung labing-isang 'yun at 'yun ang ipatutupad, 'yun na ang susuportahan ng ating pangulo," he said.
(This is what we discussed, those who will follow the 11-point agenda, if someone raises their hand, memorize all of those by heart, and implements them, that person will get the president’s support.)
PDP-Laban's 11-point agenda covers the following points: fight against corruption, eradication of poverty, advancement of peace and order, ending the pandemic, defeating communist terrorism, sustaining economic growth, generation of jobs, strengthening national defense and foreign relations, educational reforms, decentralization, and local government empowerment, and Charter change and federalism.
For now, Duterte remains mum on who he will endorse for the presidency in the upcoming elections, and even Langit said they are still waiting for the president's action over the matter.
"Hinihintay namin ang kumpas ng ating pangulo," he said, and urged the public to also wait for the president's candidate.
(We are waiting for the president’s move.)
"Hintayin natin ang magiging kumpas ng ating pangulo kung sino po ang magiging choice niya at kung sino talaga ang magco-commit para itaguyod ang continuity Duterte administration," he said.
(Let us wait for the move on the president on who will be his choice and who will really commit to the continuity of the Duterte administration.)
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi's faction of PDP-Laban has no presidential candidate in the upcoming elections, after two of its supposed standard-bearers, Senator Ronald Dela Rosa and Senator Christopher Go, withdrew from the race.
For the vice presidency, Langit said "it goes without saying" that they will support the president's daughter, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte.
