Outgoing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will attend the inauguration of his daughter Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio in Davao city on June 19, her spokesman confirmed Monday.
"President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has confirmed his attendance," said Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco, Sara's spokesman, in a message.
Robredo to skip Sara's inauguration
Meanwhile, in an interview, Duterte-Carpio herself confirmed that outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo will not be able to make it to her oath-taking ceremony due to a conflict of schedule.
She noted that invitations were sent to the incumbent, as well as past presidents and vice presidents to attend her inauguration in Davao City.
"Ang nagconfirm na dadalo is former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and ang nagconfirm na hindi siya makaattend because of the Naga Charter Day, which will happen on the same weekend, is si Vice President Leni Robredo," the Davao City mayor said.
The presidential daughter is set to be inaugurated at San Pedro Square in Davao City at 4:30 PM on June 19, with the event open to the public and will be followed by a music concert.
The event will start with a thanksgiving Mass at 3 p.m. at the San Pedro Cathedral to be attended by Archbishop Romulo Valles.
Her running mate, President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to be inaugurated on June 30 at the National Museum in Manila.
