President Rodrigo Duterte has advised his successor to abolish the party-list system and to pursue charter change (Cha-cha).
"Itong party-list kailangang alisin na ito ng kung sinong magpresidente ngayon na papasok. Ako, I recommend the abolition of itong party-list," Duterte said in his weekly talk to the People.

The President made the suggestion after accusing, once again, the progressive party-list Bayan Muna of being a front of the local communist party.
Duterte, who earlier called for an amendment to the 1987 Constitution, also advised the next president to initiate either a Constitutional Assembly (ConAss) or a Constitutional Convention (ConCon).
"It would be as good as any other time to initiate whether to convert Congress into a constituent body or a magtawag ng [call for]constitutional convention, which is very expensive to do,” he said.
