President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has granted hazard pay to all government employees who had to report to work physically during the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from April 14 to either May 14 or 31.
Issued on Wednesday, Duterte signed Administrative Order 43 granting hazard pay of up to PHP 500 per day to government personnel who are physically on duty during the ECQ and MECQ period.
Workers who occupy a regular, contractual or casual position or those engaged through a contract of service, job order, or similar schemes are all qualified for the benefit.
In the said AO, Duterte said those who physically report for work during ECQ or MECQ “are inevitably exposed to the risk of COVID-19 infection and other similar health dangers and hazards.”
Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal – collectively known as NCR Plus – was previously placed under MECQ from April 12 to May 14.
The City of Santiago in Isabela, Zamboanga City, Quirino, and Ifugao, meanwhile, remained under MECQ until May 31.
