Two days before Valentine's Day, prices of some flowers at Dangwa Flower Market in Sampaloc, Manila have increased.
Interviewed by RH Boy Gonzales on Monday, February 12, a vendor named Nicka said flowers currently range from ₱2,000 to ₱3,000.
She noted that this is higher as compared to the regular days of ₱1,500.
When asked if the prices would double or triple on February 14, the vendor said: "Ngayong mag ba-Valentines, tumaas talaga ang presyo. Opo, pagdating pa ng 14 [tataas ang presyo]."
"Sa mga ordinary flowers namin, meron kaming ₱1,500 to ₱1,700. Sa mga imported flowers naman, naka-set na sa ₱2,500 to ₱3,000. Ten pieces na yung roses niya at may kasama pang stargazer. Meron din kaming by piece, yung equiadorian rose, nagra-range ₱300 per piece," Nicka shared.

In another interview, Kate Diane told Gonzales that a piece of sunflower costs ₱150 and if customers asked for a discount, it could be sold for ₱100.
She said a bouquet, composed of 10 pieces of pink roses, costs ₱500.
According to the survey conducted by Social Weather Stations, Filipino women prefer to receive money (19%) and flowers (13%) on Valentine's Day.
Filipino men, meanwhile, wished to receive apparel (14%) and also money (12%).
