The National Electrification Administration (NEA) reported that restoration efforts are ongoing to restore power to more than 4.7 million households affected by Super Typhoon Uwan.

According to the latest update from the NEA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD), a total of 4,781,180 consumers remain affected as 26 electric cooperatives (ECs) continue to experience power interruptions in six regions.

Among the affected cooperatives are:

  • Ilocos Region (Region I) – LUELCO (La Union), PANELCO III (Pangasinan), and CENPELCO (Central Pangasinan)

  • Cagayan Valley (Region II) – NUVELCO (Nueva Vizcaya) and QUIRELCO (Quirino)

  • Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) – ABRECO (Abra), BENECO (Benguet), IFELCO (Ifugao), and MOPRECO (Mountain Province)

  • Eastern Visayas (Region VIII) – NORSAMELCO (Northern Samar)

  • Bicol Region (Region V) – ALECO (Albay), CANORECO (Camarines Norte), CASURECO I-IV (Camarines Sur), FICELCO (Catanduanes), MASELCO (Masbate), TISELCO (Ticao Island, Masbate), and SORECO I-II (Sorsogon)

The Bicol Region suffered the heaviest damage, with multiple electric cooperatives still under a total power interruption status.

NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda has directed all affected cooperatives to mobilize their line personnel for widespread restoration work. He, however, appealed for public understanding, noting that “power restoration cannot be completed immediately after a typhoon of this magnitude.”

As of 2:00 p.m. on November 10, electricity has been partially restored in parts of Cabanatuan City, but other areas in Central Luzon, including San Leonardo and Santa Rosa, remain without power.

According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), 26 transmission lines in Luzon and 7 in the Visayas are still non-operational. Only 9 transmission facilities nationwide have returned to normal operation.

NGCP clarified that while some transmission lines have been restored, full power resumption depends on the repair work of the local electric cooperatives, particularly in areas where power poles and distribution lines were severely damaged.

Meanwhile, telecommunication signals have returned to normal in most parts of Central Luzon, offering a slight relief to residents still coping with the aftermath of the typhoon.

The NEA-DRRMD continues to monitor power conditions across 82 electric cooperatives in 51 provinces and 12 regions nationwide as damage assessments and restoration activities progress.
