Love filled the streets of Thailand on Thursday, January 23, as the country officially became the first in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. Thousands of couples registered for marriages on the historic day, including actors and long-time partners Porsch Apiwat and Arm Sappanyoo.
After 17 years of dating and 10 years of engagement, Porsch and Arm finally married, with their family, friends, and colleagues from the entertainment world bearing witness to the wedding ceremony.
In an Instagram post, Arm gushed over the remarkable day for them and the LGBTQ+ community.
“Finally LOVE wins ❤️❤️ 23.01.2025 Today is a historical and remarkable day that we are finally allowed to LOVE, be LOVED, and to build our own family in our own way,” he captioned his post.

Two days before the momentous occasion, the couple shared their plan of registering their marriage on the said date on Instagram.
“Thank you so much for all the blessings and good wishes for our marriage. We are super happy and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And on the 23rd [of] January, the equal marriage law will be officially enforced,” Porsh said.
“We are going to register our marriage certificate at Phra Nakorn District Office,” he added.
Arm continued by stating that everyone was cordially invited to witness their marriage registration at the district office. Additionally, they reminded those who planned on registering their marriage, whether on the 23rd or at a later date, to bring their ID cards and house registration. Two witnesses are also required to be present during the registration.
Porsch and Arm got engaged in 2014, six years after they made their relationship official.
The couple had previously acted alongside each other for the 2022 Thai series, Ai Long Nhai and Caged Again in 2024.
In June 2024, the same-sex marriage bill was passed in a historic parliamentary vote, making Thailand the third Asian country to allow same-sex marriage after Taiwan and Nepal. Under the law, LGBTQ+ couples are granted adoption and inheritance rights.
