In a solemn ceremony held at exactly 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the late Senator Rodolfo Pong Biazon was given a final tribute as he was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig.
As a former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Biazon was accorded full military honors by a battalion of soldiers from the AFP.
The ceremony included a funeral march, a 19-gun salute in the military camps, the presentation of the mourning badge, and the final gun salute.
Prior to his interment, Senator Biazon's remains were brought to the Heritage Memorial Park, Muntinlupa City Hall, and the Senate, where current and former officials, friends, and loved ones paid their respects and bid their final farewell.
The Philippine Marines' Headquarters hosted a necrological service and military honors for Senator Biazon, attended by both current and former AFP officials.
Senator Biazon passed away at the age of 88 on June 12, the country's Independence Day, due to pneumonia and lung cancer.
His burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani serves as a tribute to his significant contributions to the nation as a statesman and his dedicated service to the military.
