The police officer identified as the primary suspect in the October 3 murder of Bulacan ABC President Ramilito Capistrano and his driver has escaped from restrictive custody at Camp Crame.
This was confirmed by Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo, following a report from the Police Regional Office-3 this morning that charges have been filed against four suspects in the case.
Charged with double murder are PSSgt. Ulysses Pascual, his cousin Cezar Gallardo, along with two accomplices referred to as alias Lupin and alias Jeff.
However, during a press briefing at Camp Crame, Fajardo revealed that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) had summoned the police suspect and disarmed him at the national headquarters.
The suspect reportedly requested permission to go home to retrieve important personal items and was granted this request by his escort, but he never returned.
"Nagpaalam daw ito sa duty custodian na uuwi lang sandali at babalik at subalit hindi na siya bumalik," said Fajardo.
"Kaya under investigation at ni-relieve na rin 'yung police na naka-duty that time na pumayag na siya'y lumabas," she added.
The police suspect, along with three additional alleged perpetrators of the crime, remains at large.
