The police officer who became a suspect in the case of missing beauty queen Catherin Camilon has been charged with kidnapping and illegal detention, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

As reported by Val Gonzales' report during MBC Network News, de Castro has already been charged with kidnapping and serious illegal detention in the Batangas prosecutors office, along with his personal driver, bodyguard, and two unidentified men.

Based on the report, PNP Chief PBGen Benjamin Acorda Jr. had talks with the suspect in which he asked for an apology as the organization was "dragged into his personal problem."

PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Director PMGen Romeo Caramat Jr. said de Castro admitted that he and Camilon had an illicit affair.

In a press briefing on Monday, PNP Spokesperson spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said that the prosecutor will have at least 10 days to evaluate whether the cases referred by the CIDG will reach preliminary investigation.

"As we speak, the RFU (Regional Field Unit) 4A of the CIDG is preparing other documents to support the case they have filed. We filed a kidnapping case because the victim was reported missing on Oct. 12, and until today, we are still uncertain whether she is still alive or not. If we find additional evidence in the coming days, these will not preclude us from filing additional cases or at least upgrading the case to another offense,” Fajardo said.

Camilon was first reported to be missing on October 12.

The 26-year-old high school teacher was at a petrol station in Bauan and was heading to a meeting in Batangas City, according to her mother, Rose Camilon, who stated that she last spoke with her daughter at 8 p.m. on October 12.

De Castro, who was chatting with Camilon right before she disappeared, is currently under restrictive custody.
