Authorities have already identified the corpse of a woman found inside a box left along the road in Katipunan Extension, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.
Police Major Angelito Valleser, Chief of the Punta Princesa Police Station confirmed on Wednesday, July 18, that the victim was a 19-year-old woman from Davao named Rhea Mae Tocmo.
According to investigators, the victim’s relatives residing in Cebu confirmed that it was Tocmo’s corpse, recognizing her favorite pair of shorts and the same clothes as when they last saw her alive.
The victim was found inside a box on Tuesday, July 18, wrapped in a white blanket; her arms were said to be tied with rubber and aluminum wire, in what looked like another case of "salvage killing".
Valleser said they already have leads on the crime but refused to give more details.
Meanwhile, authorities have also started monitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in areas where Tocmo was last seen alive.
They will also be gathering CCTV videos from inns, as the white blanket she was wrapped in may have belonged to an establishment.
