Senator Grace Poe submitted a resolution asking for an investigation into the ongoing text scams and the usage of SIM cards in alleged unlawful operations of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) during the implementation of the SIM Registration Act.
Poe stated that she filed Resolution No. 745 in order to ensure that the SIM Registration Law's objectives are met.
She stated in the resolution that despite the fact that the law has been in effect for nearly a year and that existing SIM registrations have been terminated, scams and other mobile-related frauds have continued to grow.

The senator referenced a raid on a POGO hub in Las Piñas City on June 27 that resulted in the confiscation of over 80,000 SIM cards.
On the other hand, the Department of Justice (DOJ) seized 28,000 registered SIM cards at a POGO facility in Pasay City on August 2.
The separate raids took place after the July 25 SIM registration deadline as part of the SIM Registration Law's implementation to avoid fraud and fraudulent operations.
