The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is set to bring elite volleyball training closer to aspiring young athletes nationwide through its newly announced Alas Pilipinas Youth Camp, spearheaded by decorated coach Roger Gorayeb and volleyball star Alyssa Valdez.

The program aims to tour various provinces and regions across the Philippines, giving aspiring players the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals while receiving mentorship and inspiration from some of the country’s top volleyball personalities.

“I suggested to the board members from the different regions. Why don't we have a camp in the regions? So sabi nga nila, magandang idea,” said PNVF President Tonyboy Liao.

“They will be in charge of talking with the mayors of those areas para at least matulungan tayo ng support ng mga mayor doon,” Liao added.

Valdez, widely regarded as the “face of Philippine volleyball,” will headline the skills clinic, bringing her extensive experience and training expertise to the program.

The collaboration between PNVF and Valdez’s existing summer camp ensures that the initiative will reach areas beyond Metro Manila, where her previous camps were concentrated.

“I asked her if she still runs her summer camp, and she said yes, but it was only in Metro Manila—Pasig, Makati, Quezon City, Marikina, and Parañaque,” Liao explained.

“So sabi ko, that's good. Is it okay for you that we use you, we go to the regions? And what she told me yesterday was, why don't we just partner? So let's just call it PNVF in partnership with Aly Youth Camp.”

The camp will target 100 to 150 youth participants per session, though organizers note that Valdez’s Metro Manila summer camps previously attracted up to 1,500 attendees per city, highlighting the strong interest in grassroots volleyball development.

Further details regarding the camp schedule and participating regions will be finalized in the coming days, with organizers aiming to launch the program in time for the summer season.
