Starting July 3, Monday, the Philippine National Railways will suspend their operation traveling from Alabang, Muntinlupa to Calamba, Laguna, and Vice Versa.
The said route will be temporarily available as an approach to the ongoing North-South railway project and the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
In an interview with reporters on Thursday, PNR general manager Jeremy Regino said that the closure of the railway’s northern commuter line “will be at least after Christmas.”
“Once final date has been finalized, we will immediately inform them [commuters] in advance,” he added.
According to PNR Operations Manager Jo Geronimo, only Tutuban-Alabang will be the available line in Metro Manila.
Prior to this, PNR said earlier it would stop its train services for at least five years to speed up construction of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) and save P15 billion from the project.
In 2028, NSCR envisions a rail line connecting Malolos, Bulacan, with Clark International Airport and Tutuban with Calamba.
