A total of 241 individuals have been arrested in the country for violating Comelec's gun ban since the day it was implemented, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Monday, September 4.

"Exactly one week since we launched nationwide the law enforcement operations to implement gun ban for 2023 BSKE, the PNP, so far, arrested 241 gun ban violators and confiscated 130 assorted small arms and light weapons in checkpoints and other police operations in the country," PNP chief General Benjamin Acorda Jr. said during a press briefing at PNP Media Center, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City.

According to Acorda, the violators were apprehended during law enforcement operations that began on August 28 until midnight on September 3.

Around 64 individuals were arrested in Metro Manila, 22 in Central Visayas, and 46 in Central Luzon. Those who were apprehended were charged with breaking the Omnibus Election Code's prohibition on carrying or transporting firearms and other deadly weapons outside residences, businesses, and public places.
