The Philippine National Police (PNP) will do without exorbitant holiday celebrations this year, and have opted to channel their funds to typhoon relief.
“We will be recommending to the Chief, PNP not to have a lavish... lavish preparation. We (will) spend it more doon sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo,” the Director of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations, Police Maj. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba said. He added that hosting parties was not a priority for the agency anyway.

National Support Unit and regional directors will have to decide what they deem to be “lavish,” Alba said.
Close to 3,000 officers, mainly from the Bicol region, were affected by Super Typhoon Pepito. Alba said they will be receiving financial aid and given vacation leave.
He added that several of their homes were destroyed and some sustained injuries. Among the damages wreaked by the consecutive typhoons were various police stations and police cars.
