In the midst of attacks on local executives, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy more security officersto those receiving 'validated' threats to life.

Related groups including the Union of Local Authorities in the Philippines, the League of Governors, and the League of Mayors have already met with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and PNP to review the needed security for local officials.

According to the Head of the PNP’s Directorate for Personnel and Records Management PBrig Gen. Matthew Baccay, the police were considering to provide security package.

"But the PNP's in the process of studying providing a security package especially for those with threat assessments that are validated," Baccay said.

“For now… the move of the PNP is provide additional security personnel for those with validated threat assessment and for the others who wish to avail of PSPs (protective security personnel) and PAs (protection agent)," he added.

The PNP is currently validating threats to elected officials and will strengthen operations against guns for hire.

They will also regulate checkpoints in preparation for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) in October.
