The Philippine National Police (PNP) implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure a safe, orderly, and meaningful event for the millions of devotees expected to participate in Traslacion 2025 on January 9.
“Traslacion is a profound expression of faith and devotion. The PNP is fully committed to safeguarding every devotee, dedicating all necessary resources to ensure peace and order during this sacred occasion,” the PNP said in a post on Sunday.
The PNP stated that the security plan is being implemented in collaboration with local government units (LGUs), religious organizations, and other relevant government agencies.
Additionally, a large number of police personnel will be deployed to key areas, including the procession route, crowded locations, and specific entry and exit points.
Specialized units trained in crowd control will also be deployed to maintain order, while the PNP Intelligence Group and the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) will closely monitor potential physical and digital threats.
To facilitate fast aid when necessary, medical teams and quick-response units will be stationed at strategic points.
The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) and local traffic personnel will also be responsible for managing traffic and enforcing rerouting measures to ensure minimal disruptions for both the devotees and the general public.
Moreover, the police force reminded the public to adhere to security protocols, which include refraining from bringing prohibited items such as bladed or pointed objects, backpacks, or any items that could pose safety risks. The PNP said that these measures are in place to ensure smooth inspections and maintain the overall safety of the event.
Previously, the Quiapo Church administration advised that transparent bags be used for easier inspection if attendees are bringing bags.
The PNP further appealed to devotees and the public to cooperate with security protocols, report any suspicious activities, and prioritize safety, emphasizing that vigilance and cooperation are crucial to the success of the event.
Regular advisories will be provided to keep the public updated on safety guidelines and event-related information.
