The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to seek clarification from Malacañang regarding the resignation of 18 high-ranking officials.

These officials submitted courtesy resignations and were accepted by President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.

During a press briefing at Camp Crame on Wednesday, PNP Chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said that they will arrange a meeting with Executive Secretary (ES) Lucas Bersamin to address the matter.

He expressed the urgency of scheduling the meeting to achieve closure on the issue.

“I am hoping that this would be scheduled the soonest because we want a closure on this,” Acorda said.

The plan for the 18 officers is to possibly place them in the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU).

"Itong mga officers na ito, we are planning really if may mga plan to place them muna sa PHAU but after the meeting with the ES, mas maganda," the PNP chief said.

"I talked with my directorate for personnel, na tapusin muna yung meeting para yung kung ano yung tono ng courtesy resignation mas klaro ang interpretation namin and mas naayon din yung response namin," he added.

The resignations occurred amid an ongoing investigation by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) into the alleged involvement of 953 law enforcers in illegal drug trade activities.

Acorda also assured that the PNP will continue its vigilance in monitoring both the resigned officials and those whose resignations were not acted upon.
