The Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday that it will ask Wilfredo Gonzales, the former policeman who brandished and assaulted a cyclist in a road rage incident in Quezon City, to return his retirement benefits.

In a press conference, PNP Retirement and Benefits Administration Service (PRBS) Director Police Brigadier General Nio David Rabaya said they are already working on preparing a demand letter for Gonzales to return the money from his retirement benefits, adding that they are already taking initial actions for the recovery of the said payment on his pension.

Rabaya mentioned that if the retired cop refused to give back the retirement benefits, he and the PNP will file a complaint against him.

From 2016 to 2019, Gonzales received a lump sum of his pension. However, in 2019, he stopped receiving when the PRBS received a dismissal order against him.

He explained that everything had been settled at the police station after the incident.
