The Philippine National Police (PNP) - Civil Security Group (CSG) is set to summon the female sampaguita vendor who went viral after a security guard forcibly removed her from a mall in Mandaluyong.
According to PNP-CSG spokesperson PLt. Col. Eudisan Gultiano, this is to allow the alleged 18-year-old student vendor to present her side before the preliminary investigation begins.
The investigation by both the security agency and the mall's management into the incident is ongoing, while the PNP-SOSIA is also evaluating the security guard's potential administrative liability.
Gultiano then clarified that the investigation could proceed even without the appearance of the so-called "sampaguita girl," with the inquiry relying on the security guard's statement.
The security guard, who was caught on video destroying the sampaguita flowers and forcibly escorting the vendor out of the mall, appeared at Camp Crame yesterday, January 20.
Furthermore, the security guard arrived at the PNP-SOSIA with the operations manager and a lawyer from his security agency.
Should the ongoing investigation prove a violation, the security guard could face suspension or have his license revoked.
Following the incident, the management of SM Megamall dismissed the security guard, condemning his actions and reaffirming their commitment to promoting inclusivity.
