The Philippine National Police (PNP) urged the public to adhere to the election laws, following the launch of the 100-day security plan last Wednesday.

The report RH 5 Val Gonzales stated that two days before the start of the campaign period, the PNP assured that they would ensure peace and safety in the country.

“As we approach the mid-term elections, the PNP remains steadfast in its duty to uphold peace and security. Any actions that incite violence, intimidate voters, or undermine the electoral process will be met with the full force of the law,” PNP Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said.

Marbil encouraged people to comply with the rules of the midterm elections and stated that the PNP would remain neutral and apolitical.

“Nasa kamay po natin ang ikabubuti ng eleksyon. Let us be fair. Let us be apolitical. Heto rin po ipapakita natin na kapag nag che-checkpoint ang pulis kasama natin ang [Philippine] Coast Guard. Of course, sa pamumuno po ng COMELEC, ipapakita po natin na maayos po ang ating bansa,” he said. “Let’s assure sa buong mundo na ang Pilipinas ay maayos.”

The PNP launched a 10-day security plan last Wednesday, February 5, aiming to address any potential threats, dismantling private armed groups, and maintaining order before, during, and after the elections.

Key measures under the security plan include:

  • Intensified operations against loose firearms and wanted criminals
  • Proactive intelligence monitoring to prevent election-related violence
  • Strategic police deployments in identified election areas of concern
  • Round-the-clock checkpoints
  • Patrols in high-risk areas

“No political ambition should compromise public safety. The PNP will remain vigilant in ensuring that the elections are conducted peacefully, and those who attempt to disrupt this process through violence or intimidation will be held accountable,” Marbil emphasized.
