The Philippine National Police (PNP) stands by the legitimacy of its rescue operation of a 14-year-old Chinese national, who was abducted in Taguig last February.

In a press briefing, PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo emphasized that no ransom was paid by the police or any group to secure the release of the kidnap victim.

Fajardo shared that the authorities are pursuing a solid lead to identify the suspects in the kidnapping.

Meanwhile, despite the lifting of the relief order for Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) Chief PCol. Elmer Ragay, the investigation into the case will proceed without interruption.

"Ang nagco-conduct po ng investigation is another unit po and we make sure na any investigation relating to that particular issue will be conducted in the most transparent manner," said Fajardo.

"Hindi po natin nakikita ang pababalik ni Col. Ragay sa kaniyang posisyon na para makaapekto po sa ongoing investigation," she added.

General Order Number 55, released on March 3, confirmed that the dismissal of PCol. Elmer Ragay was "nullified" as of the end of February.

The order emphasizes that the transfer of government officials is prohibited during the election period unless authorized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Ragay will be reinstated as the Director of the AKG, despite the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) raising questions about the kidnapping case involving a 14-year-old Chinese national in Taguig.

The PNP is investigating the lack of arrests among the suspects and is looking into the circumstances of the victim's recovery in Parañaque.
