The Philippine National Police – Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (PNP-SOSIA) is conducting an investigation into the viral incident in which a student selling sampaguita was forced to leave a mall in EDSA Ortigas, Mandaluyong City.
PLt. Col. Eudisan Gultiano, Spokesperson for the PNP Civil Security Group, confirmed that a motu proprio investigation is currently underway into the incident.
RH Edniel Parrosa reported that Gultiano told DZRH News that the security guard may face suspension or have his license revoked if an investigation uncovers any irregularities in his actions.
The security agency that employs the security guard is also facing investigation, with SOSIA reviewing any potential violations.
In a prior statement, the management of SM Megamall condemned the actions of the security guard, reaffirming their commitment to promoting inclusivity.
Furthermore, the security guard has also been dismissed from his job while the mall is conducting a separate investigation into the incident.
The viral video showed the security guard destroying the sampaguita flowers being sold by the child while forcibly driving her away from the mall. He was also seen kicking the child.
In frustration, the young girl retaliated by striking the security guard with the damaged sampaguita she was trying to sell.
