Operatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) conducted an anti-Illegal drugs operation in Imus, Cavite, on Monday evening, seizing PHP 748 million worth of shabu and arresting two suspects.

The buy-bust operation occurred in a subdivision in Imus, Cavite, at around 6:00 PM, resulting in the arrest of two suspects: one residing in the house at the subdivision and another male from Dasmariñas City.

"Yung mga suspected individual, hindi naman sila taga dito. Allegedly, may mga hindi magandang ginagawa at alam na 'yan ng community - kami nagpapasalamat din na may nagbibigay sa atin ng impormasyon," PDEG Director BGen. Eleazar Matta said during an ambush interview after the operation.

"We are still conducting thorough investigation," he added.

Matta stated that the operation is a testament to the relentless efforts of authorities to dismantle large-scale drug syndicates operating within communities.

He further emphasized their commitment to eradicating illegal drugs and ensuring that individuals involved in this illicit trade are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Operatives discovered and seized 110 kilos of shabu, which was hidden in sacks marked with fish food labels, inside the raided house.

The operation was both witnessed by a village councilor from the location and a media representative. Body-worn cameras (BWC) and an alternative recording device were utilized during the operation to ensure transparency.

The PDEG is investigating whether there are more prominent figures behind the seized illegal drugs, as it appears that the two suspects arrested in the operation were only part of a 'secondary layer'.

The suspects will be facing charges for violating R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspects are currently in the custody of the PDEG Special Operation Unit 4A (Calabarzon) for further investigation.
