The Philippine National Police (PNP) looks into the angle of politics as motive behind the murder of Negros Orienal Gov. Roel Degamo.
PCol. Redrico Maranan, spokesperson of the PNP, said on Tuesday, March 7, that authorities continue to collect evidence to determine the motive in the killing of the local government executive.
"Yung pagkalap ng ebidensya parang jigsaw puzzle iyan, isa-isa binubuo natin. Kapag nabuo natin, makikita natin yung buong litrato, yung whole picture," Maranan said during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.
"Kapag nabuo natin iyan, lalabas doon kung sino yung mastermind," he added.
However, Maranan described politics as 'the most possible motive'.
The PNP official also mentioned that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier assessed the assasination as 'purely political'.
"Alam naman natin na ang ating Pangulo, bilang Pangulo ng bansa, ay may access sa lahat ng information, sa lahat ng intelligence, kaya nasabi niya," Maranan said.
Maranan assured that the police will publicize suspected key players and masterminds in the masterminds once investigators collate enough evidence.
Authorities already have four suspects in custody in relation to the murder of Degamo and eight others last March 4 in the residential compound of the governor in Pamplona, Negros Oriental.
Police have also filed criminal charges against them.
