The Philippine National Police (PNP) said gaming tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang has not left the country amid the issuance of a non-bailable warrant of arrest against him for kidnapping with homicide linked to the case of the 34 missing sabungeros.
According to the PNP, there is no verified information indicating that Ang has fled abroad. Authorities said they had been closely monitoring his movements even before the warrant of arrest became public.
CIDG Director Police Major General Robert Alexander A. Morico II said Ang is being urged to surrender peacefully, citing his previous cooperation when the case was initially filed.
Efforts to serve the warrant of arrest at one of Ang’s reported addresses in Pasig City, however, yielded negative results. Police said the suspect was not present at the location.
CIDG NCR Director Col. John Guiagui said authorities expect Ang to go into hiding, prompting law enforcement to intensify manhunt operations across his other properties in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, and Palawan.
