The Philippine National Police (PNP) has released the mugshot of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, following her arrest on charges of violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
Guo, who faces multiple legal issues, was deported from Indonesia and returned to the Philippines early Friday morning, where she was immediately placed under police custody.
Guo was arrested upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after a chartered flight arranged by the Philippine authorities.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos and PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil personally escorted her from Indonesia, where she had been apprehended.
The former mayor is currently facing 87 counts of money laundering, along with a human trafficking complaint related to a raid on an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban, Tarlac.
The Senate had previously issued a warrant for her arrest in July after she repeatedly failed to appear at hearings related to the investigation of the POGO operations in her town.
In addition to these charges, the Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 109 also issued an arrest warrant for Guo in connection with a graft case, further complicating her legal situation.
Guo is now detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, where she underwent a medical check-up upon her arrival.
The PNP assured the public that strict security measures are in place, given the high-profile nature of her case.
